Tiến sĩ Nhã là người tiên phong trong tiếp thu và nghiên cứu công nghệ trong khá nhiều lĩnh vực-như sản xuất bia, nước giải khát, sữa chua, tự động hóa xây dựng, sản xuất xi măng, xử lý chất thải rắn, chế biến nông sản và thực phẩm, tiết kiệm năng lượng và tìm kiếm nguồn năng lượng mới.

Chào đời tại Nghệ An, Đinh Văn Nhã trở thành tiến sĩ đầu tiên của Việt Nam trong lĩnh vực điều khiển tự động trong xây dựng sau khi lấy bằng tiến sĩ tại Đại học Moscow vào năm 1975. Hiện nay ông là Viện trưởng Viện Khoa học Công nghệ và Đào tạo Omega, Phó tổng giám đốc Tập đoàn Cơ nhiệt Điện lạnh Bách Khoa (Polyco Group), Phó chủ tịch kiêm Phó tổng thư ký Hội Tự động hóa Việt Nam, nguyên Giám đốc Trung tâm Tự động hóa của Đại học Bách Khoa Hà Nội.

Ông từng giành hai Giải nhất Giải thưởng Sáng tạo KHCN Việt nam (VIFOTEC năm 2000 và 2004), Giải thưởng Hồ Chí Minh về khoa học công nghệ (2005) và Giải thưởng WIPO của Liên Hợp Quốc dành cho công trình sáng tạo xuất sắc nhất vào năm 2005. Hội đồng các nhà khoa học của EU-27 nước châu Âu và 10 nước Đông Nam Á ( EU-SEA NET MAPPING STUDY) trao tặng ông danh hiệu “Nhà khoa học công nghệ xuất sắc Đông Nam Á” vào năm 2009. Trong suốt sự nghiệp, tiến sĩ Nhã đã chủ trì, đồng chủ trì và tham gia hơn 500 hợp đồng nghiên cứu khoa học và chuyển giao công nghệ cho cả nước, công bố hơn 60 bài báo khoa học, 16 công trình nghiên cứu khoa học các cấp, giảng dạy hàng nghìn sinh viên và hướng dẫn hàng trăm kỹ sư, 14 thạc sĩ và nghiên cứu sinh tiến sĩ. Những công trình nghiên cứu của ông tiết kiệm hàng nghìn tỷ đồng cho đất nước, tạo điều kiện cho người dân thụ hưởng các loại đồ uống, thực phẩm với giá rẻ nhất thế giới. Dây chuyền sản xuất Bia chất lượng cao của Tập Đoàn POLYCO-GROUP của ông là sản phẩm chủ lực của Hà Nội (2007-2010). Vào tháng 6/2012, Viện Tiểu sử Mỹ” phong tặng tiến sĩ Nhã Huy chương Vàng “1.000 Trí tuệ vĩ đại thế kỷ 21”, Giáo sư danh dự (Honorable Prof. Dinh Van Nha H.E), và Huân chương Đại sứ Quốc tế vì những cống hiến xuất sắc cho cộng đồng Thế giới vào tháng 8/2012. Trung tâm Tiểu sử Quốc tế Cambridge tại Anh cũng trao tặng ông Huy chương Vàng “2.000 Nhà Trí thức nổi tiếng thế kỷ 21” và Huy chương “Thành tựu xuất sắc”. Ông là nhà giáo, nhà doanh nghiệp, nhà khoa học và nhà thơ, còn xuất bản hai tập thơ “Tình đời” ( 2011) và đồng tác giả của tập thơ “Tình mặn” của các nhà thơ hàng đầu Việt Nam ( 2012).
